I learned that student government comics were all about endgame: voting took place online over a two-day period, so the storyline shifts from "aren't we silly" to "go vote for us." The three guys shown in the last panel were the actual three candidates for president that year (the middle guy won).

No commentary about how Gordon and Hale actually won this election in real life? And the one after it? They were a ISG student government dynasty! Even if the man did the best it could to keep them down and reverse their victories.
Thanks, Mike—but actually, haven't gotten that far yet. This series of strips was for the 2001 election, in which Gordon and Hale earned 250 write-in votes. It was the next election a year later that they won! Stay tuned...
It says a lot about the relative significance of this earlier election that I can't even recover the candidates' names online.
