This strip ran on my last day as the Daily Illini Graphics Editor (editors had one-year terms that ran March to March).
It also preceded a one-week hiatus I was taking because apparently I couldn't keep up with the exhausting daily schedule of two hours of cartooning on top of two hours of class.
Most interesting, however, was that this strip prompted a number of people to believe I had been fired as a cartoonist. I let them believe that for a little while—my weeklong hiatus fueled the rumors, and my replacement as Graphics Editor (fellow cartoonist Marty Smith) decided to play along as well in his own strip.
