At the time this strip ran, I actually never expected to bring Hale back. But I actually got a handful of emails from students voting to keep Hale, so I had to honor the deal.
Fun fact: Hale was name for Matthew Hale, Illinois' favorite white supremacist who was pretty active at the time. Not that I liked Matthew Hale, it just happened to rhyme with "snail." To quote the Blues Brothers: I hate Illinois nazis.
